Ahi Keleher lives in Minnesota with her dog, four rabbits, and two house chickens. (Yes, that's a thing!)
As one might guess, she is an avid animal lover and has had many species of pets over the years. She draws on her
innumerable encounters with different species ranging from wild to domestic (to somewhere in between) for her writing.
Another facet of Ahi's personality is the reenactor. She runs with a Krewe of pirates attending everything from festivals,
to parades, to fur trade era rendezvous. She sews her garments by hand for these events to preserve the sense
of authenticity. She has also been known to fence sabre, shoot archery, throw tomahawks/knives, and even fire cannons!
The pirating "off season" (aka winter) is when Ahi gets most of her writing done. Her first novel, Flintridge, is the result
of participating in National Novel Writing Month (affectionately known as NaNoWriMo.) For those not in the know,
NaNoWriMo is a mad dash to put down a minimum of 50,000 words in the span of a month. It's insanely fun.
(Emphasis on insane.)
Writing is my stress-relief mechanism. Escaping from reality for a brief time allows me to re-center myself and burn excess anxious energy. What started as a for-fun hobby writing fanfiction has evolved into my own brand of entertainment. I am branching into new worlds with unique characters by my side to tell fresh new stories.
While small yet, my support community is tight-knit. I am buoyed up by my close friends both near and far. My greatest supporter, my mother, has passed on but I know she is with me still, cheering me on and giving me the strength I need to believe in myself.
If you would like to join me on my varied adventures, sign up for the mailing list or keep tabs on this website. I hope to get my blog and perhaps even a podcast going soon - stay tuned!
